To set up a new Smart Monitor, navigate to the 'Monitoring' Module
and click the bright yellow button that says '+ New Monitor'.
It is advised to first select your data source so that you can see your visualization form as you build your Monitor. In the metric drop-down, choose which metric you'd like to monitor. For a complete list of metrics, their availability details, and their definitions, please refer to Metrics and Dimensions Glossary.
Next, select the frequency for the monitor to be checking for breaches, either every 10 minutes or every hour
You can then choose whether you would like to apply a filter (Dimension) to the monitor:
Once you've chosen your desired Metrics and Dimensions you can then choose whether you want the monitor to track an increase or a decrease in the performance of the specific data set you've chosen.
From there you can then select the type of monitor you want to set up, in this instance, you will want to choose 'Smart'
You will then want to choose the sensitivity of your Smart Monitor.
Once you've filled in all available fields and you are happy with your monitor you will then choose the notification alert method.
To see how you set up a notification channel please look at our handy guide How to setup Notification Channels
The final step will be for you to give your Monitor a name and click Save.
It is worth keeping in mind that Smart Monitors work differently from Threshold monitors, so once you have saved your Smart Monitor it will say 'Waiting'.
This is because a Smart Monitor uses a machine-learning algorithm to detect anomalies so it enters a 3-day learning phase before becoming active. Once those 3 days have passed you will see your Smart Monitor go from 'Waiting' to 'Ok'.
Your Smart Monitor should now be ready to go!
